Description

Meghalaya is rich in adventure tourism opportunities like rock climbing, mountaineering, trekking and hiking, water sports etc, Meghalaya has an estimated 500 natural limestone and sandstone caves spread over the entire state. The tribal people of Meghalaya are a part of the world’s largest surviving matrilineal culture with a majority of the tribal population following a system where lineage and inheritance are traced through women.

Day 1 GUWAHATI – SHILLONG (100 KM / 3 HRS)

Welcome on arrival in Guwahati & transfer to Shillong (4 hrs). Umiam Lake or Barapani - is the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya in midst of sylvan hills adorned by Khasi pines & peerless beauty. Overnight in Shillong.


Day 2 SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE (60 km / 1.5 HRS)

Morning drive to Cherrapunjee. Witness the gorgeous Seven Sisters falls & visit the Mawsmai cave & Thangkharang Park.  Overnight in Cherrapunjee.


Day 3 CHERRAPUNJEE

Morning take a nature walk across the mystic lanes of the local arena. Day free for visit to living root bridge and other activities. (activities at additional charges). Overnight in Cherrapunjee.


Day 4 CHERRAPUNJEE – MAWLYNONG – SHILLONG

Full day trip to Mawlynong, the cleanest village in Asia. With over 80 households, the village gives the ambiance of  walking in a well maintained park ! Overnight in Shillong.


Day 5 SHILLONG – SMIT - JOWAI

Morning proceed to Jowai (4 hrs). Enroute visit Smit Village. Take a local tour of Jowai  surrounded by the Myntdu river & Jowai villages. Overnight in Jowai.


Day 6 JOWAI – NARTIANG - JOWAI

Morning drive to Nartiang Monoliths & Durga Mandir. Overnight in Jowai.


Day 7 JOWAI – THADLASKEIN LAKE – SHILLONG

Morning return to Shillong. Enroute visit Thadlaskein Lake and enjoy lake activities. Overnight in Shillong.


Day 8 SHILLONG - NONGKHNUM – MAWPHLANG - SHILLONG

Early morning drive to Nongkhnum Island (3.5 hrs). Later visit Mawphlang (25 km before reaching Shillong); famous for its sacred forest, the nature’s own museum with a treasure trove of unique flora which are seldom seen in other parts of the world.   Return to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.


Day 9 SHILLONG

Take a city tour of Shillong. Shillong - The ‘Gleneagle of the East’ lies in the centre of a plateau surrounded by  Khasi hills. The gorgeous city offers amazing tourist spots. The city’s own Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating. The Botanical Garden offers plethora of indigenous and exotic plants & rare collection of orchids. Butterfly Museum is a storehouse of finest and rarest species of butterflies and moths. Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with streaches of roses & exquisite flowers. The Mini zoo adjacent to the park has about 73 birds, 140 reptiles & mammals.   One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18 hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick pine groves & rhododendron trees. Spend the evening in the splendid arena ! The State Museum is a display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya. Shillong and its surrounding is dotted with splendid waterfalls cascading down deep valleys forming misty sparks as they break the silence of the surroundings. Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks.  Overnight in Shillong.
